The Yard

The fantastic Function Room upstairs can be hired free of charge and has been a popular feature ever since it opened, largely due to its intimacy and fabulous private bar. This room can be reserved for any kind of celebration or event. Set menus are available and you can submit an enquiry online (click on “Function Room”).

Food-wise, you'll be in gastronomic heaven. Our new Chef started at the beginning of December so its about time to indroduce him. Steve Myers has come from Escape in skipton having previously worked for the Devonshire Arms in Bolton abbey working first in the Brasserie then moving on to cater for all the Weddings, partys and all manners of outside functions, he also got chance to work in the private kitchen of Lord & Lady Hartington cooking for their weeks shoot party.

While at escape Steve entered and won the Great British Pub & Resturant Chef of the year in 2004, gaining himself a trip to paris and large cash prize.

Now at the Yard Steve has many plans, which will slowly come into practice, the most obvious was our menu layout which has recently started with our new menu. Come summer Steve has some great ideas for outside BBQ’s come rain or Shine.

Heaven for non-smokers!

If your idea of pub hell is drinking in a room laden with cigarette fumes, you can breathe a sigh of smoke-free relief. Our room upstairs was awarded the Roy Castle Good Air Silver Award in September 2004 for providing a no-smoking area. A full smoking ban is now in force throughout the whole bar.

The Yard is dog-friendly

Because The Yard welcomes everyone with their canine chums, what could be better than a thirst-quenching drink for both yourself and your dog? We believe every dog should enjoy its creature comforts, so whether you're looking to bask in the sun or just relax in the shade, you know your faithful friend will be as happy as you are. Just don't forget the lead on the way home! 

The Yard's ID Policy

Here at The Yard we have a strict ID policy for anyone who looks under 21.
Whilst your youthful good looks may help with chatting up members of the opposite sex, have you ever thought that The Yard's bar staff find it hard to judge your proper age? Believe us, it isn't easy to tell someone's age. This is why we insist that anyone who looks under the age of 21 (lucky you!) must carry a valid form of ID. We accept only the following: passports, photo driving licence and Prove-It cards. If The Yard is caught serving underage drinkers, the result could be a heafty fine for the bar staff involved, or worse, total loss of licence. Please think about this before ordering your drink.
