I held my 21st birthday/engagement party at The Yard over the weekend (12th April 2008). After a recent Friday evening visit I enquired behind the bar about the possibility of hiring the room and balcony area upstairs. The staff and managers were great from the start, phone and email communication was great, and the barman on the night was extremely polite and hardworking. The room was the prefect size for our 50 guests, we had the doors to the balcony open due to the mild evening which added to the atmosphere. I have had brilliant comments about the food which was delicious, we didn't have a bite leftover! The music was great and not at all obtrusive.

Once again thank you to everyone at The Yard for making our evening so special, I would certainly recommend your venue!

After spending many a Friday lunchtime in your fine establishment I was disappointed to see the Steak and Ale pie removed from the menu at the beginning of summer.
We accepted the managers comments that is was a winter dish and moved onto burgers.
With the weather now decidedly wintery we are disappointed to see that the Steak and Ale pie has not returned to the menu.
We would love to see this classic dish put back on the menu so we can one again enjoy a great pie on them cold winter lunchtimes.

p.s. you only get a 4 out of 5 rate due to the lack of pies.

As i am sure you are aware we are serving a lovely wintery cottage pie at the moment and also a delicous ocean pie for all of our brilliant customers to enjoy.
Although i can also say that because of popularity the Yards fantastic steak and ale pie will be served as of Monday the 26th of November.

I hope you enjoy eating it as much as we enjoy serving it!!!!!

Had been in for the evening and went out to meet a friend, to whom i was giving a lift home. I was then refused re-entry as this was shortly after 1.30 am. I tried to explain, at which point the so called 'manager' who was on the door became extremely patronising and asked me to leave. It was a shame as it spoilt an, otherwise, good night.shall not be returning any time soon.
Admins Comment Admins Comment:
I am sorry you felt hard done by on the evening in question but we operate a strict policy of no entrants after 1.30am and anyone leaving will not be re admitted. This also stops customers being abusive to staff and also doing silly things in the adjacent ally way (eg using it as a toilet) which incidently is caught on cctv aswell.
I once again apologise as it is never our intention to upset any of our valued customers.

Regards

The Manager.

TRULY WONDERFUL. THANKS TO HELP FROM PETER AND ANDREW, WE WERE ABLE TO PLAN AND HOLD OUR EVENING WEDDING RECEPTION IN THE YARD'S FUNCTION ROOM AND BALCONY. WE HAD OVER 100 GUESTS AND EVERYBODY COMMENTED ON THE STUNNING QUALITY AND PRESENTATION OF THE BUFFET FOOD. THE BAR STAFF WERE EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND ACCOMODATING AND THE WHOLE EVENT WAS AN OVERWHELMING SUCCESS. WE WOULD NOT HESITATE TO FULLY RECCOMMEND THE YARD'S SERVICES TO ANYONE PLANNING AN EVENT IN THE FUTURE. THANK-YOU ALL.

At the end of March I used the function room in The Yard to put on an art exhibition. Although I was uncertain in the beginning, the venue was a tremendous success. Over 70 people attended, and the pictures looked really good hanging in the venue. I sold 4 on the night, and got further commisions. I will definitely use this again - and i'm planning on a repeat with canapes and champagne on the 20th July for a different type of function.
